India recently reported that our maternal mortality ratio (MMR) stood at 97 per lakh live births. SDG-3 indicators have set out a target to reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per lakh live births before 2030. Furthermore, SDG-3 has also set out targets to reduce neonatal mortality to at least 12 per thousand live births. We currently stand at 24.9 per thousand live births.
